Bush Fire Control

Protective Burning
No protective burning is permitted after 15 December, in any year.
Prohibited Burning Period
1 November 2005 to 7 February 2006
No burning is permitted during this period.
Restricted Burning Period
19 September 2005 to 22 March 2006
Burning is allowed during this period, but a permit is required from a Permit Issuing Officer as listed.
Harvest Bans
Harvest bans are only placed after particular measurements have reached a critical point. If a harvest ban has been imposed this will be broadcast as soon as possible on Radio West (Katanning, Narrogin & Bunbury), ABC Rural Radio, and ABC Radio.
If you are unsure if a harvest ban has been imposed please contact the Shire Office who will advise you.
Council Plant and Machinery
If required Council will make plant & machinery to assist in the fire fighting of fires.

Fire Fighting Appliances - General
As landowners are not required to clear firebreaks on external boundaries of rural land, Council strongly recommends that an adequate fire fighting appliance, such as that which is required for harvesting, be kept in a state of readiness for the whole of the restricted burning period.
