SHIRE OF KENT REPRESENTATION REVIEW PROPOSED REDUCTION IN ELECTED MEMBER NUMBERS

The Shire of Kent has been instructed by the Minister for Local Government to undertake a review of its Elected Member Representation numbers as per the Local Government Act Reforms that are to be introduced by legislation in early 2023.

A Discussion Paper outlining potential options for such reductions has been prepared by Council which can be viewed by clicking here or at the Shire’s Administration Offices in Richmond Street, Nyabing between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Members of the public are invited to make submissions in relation to the review.  A Public Meeting will be held at the Nyabing Community Hub on Thursday, 3 November 2022 at 6.00pm to ensure that ratepayers and residents of the Shire of Kent have input into this matter.  Following the meeting a light supper and refreshments will be supplied.

Written submissions should be addressed to the CEO at the Shire of Kent, PO Box 15 Nyabing WA 6341 or email ceo@kent.wa.gov.au.

Submissions close at 4.30pm on Friday, 9 December 2022.  At the conclusion of the public submission period Council will take all submissions into consideration at its December 2022 Council meeting and provide a submission/proposal to the Local Government Advisory Board for consideration.
