Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) FAQs
The Shire of Kent operates as an agent for the Department of Transport. All policies and procedures, and rules and regulations are established by the Department of Transport and must be adhered to by the Shire of Kent.
The Shire of Kent is not permitted to provide information regarding licensing enquiries relating to a specific individual or vehicle over the phone. If you have questions about your personal licensing matters, you will need to attend the Shire Administration Office in person, Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 3:30pm.
General licensing enquiries may be answered over the phone; however, it is at the direction from the DTMI, for the Shire Officer to determine what constitutes as a general question. All guidance provided is in accordance with Department of Transport requirements.
Most general information can be found on the Department of Transport website:
https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/
Creating or logging into your DoTDirect account will provide access to details relating to your vehicles and licensing. If you are unable to locate the information you need or cannot complete a required transaction online, please attend the Shire Administration Office for further assistance or contact the DTMI on 13 11 56.
Any form of abuse, whether verbal or physical, will not be tolerated.
1. We are able to advise you over the phone regarding the specific forms and information required for the transaction you wish to complete. However, this guidance does not replace the requirement to present the necessary documentation in person at the time of the transaction. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have all mandatory identification and paperwork prepared before attending, as incomplete documentation will result in the transaction not being processed.
2. A valid driver’s licence and an additional form of identification are mandatory for all transactions. You must present both original documents at the time of service; photocopies or digital copies will not be accepted. Failure to provide the required identification will result in the transaction not being processed. Examples of acceptable forms of identification are available at the following link.

3. Any forms must be signed by the person who is authorised (the person who owns the plate or vehicle, or who is the licensee. Or if an organisation, the authorised person on the account.) to transact for all licencing. The signature must be original and not a photocopy or scanned/electronic version.
If the above information does not meet your needs, please contact the Department of Transport directly. Their contact details can be found at the following link:
